— ch. 02 / why this costs less

A small studio is structurally different from an agency.

Most of an agency invoice is layers — account managers, designers who don't code, sales reps. We removed those layers. The price you see is the engineer's time.

— ch. 03 / if you came to us with…

What an engagement actually costs.

Three real-shaped briefs and the all-in budget we'd quote after a discovery week. Numbers based on past engagements — yours will land somewhere inside the range.

— ch. 04 / what's not included

What we don't sell.

  • Stock-photo brand identity work — we partner with two studios in Nairobi if you need it.
  • Ad-spend management — we make sure the site converts; somebody else buys the traffic.
  • Content writing for blog posts or marketing copy beyond UI microcopy.
  • Six-week discovery decks. One week, written, and we get building.
  • White-label resale to other agencies. We work direct with the operator who will use the software.
— ch. 05 / common questions

The boring contract stuff.

Eight things we get asked before every engagement. Answered once, here, so the first call can be about your project.

50% upfront on signed scope, balance net-14 on completion of each sprint or phase. For multi-month engagements we invoice monthly in arrears. M-Pesa, bank transfer (KES or USD), or Wise — your choice.

You do — transferred on final payment, full Git history, no sanitised copy. We retain the right to reuse non-client-specific internal libraries (logging, deploy scripts) on other projects. Everything that is yours stays yours.

Yes. Our standard NDA is mutual, two-year term, with the usual carve-outs for already-public information. We can also work under your NDA if your legal team has a template they prefer.

You can stop the engagement at the end of any calendar month with two weeks' notice. No early-termination fee, no auto-renew clause, no minimum contract length beyond the current sprint.

Yes, optionally. We set up Hetzner / DigitalOcean / Hostinger VPS, Cloudflare, backups, and observability under your account so you own the infrastructure. We charge a flat KES 8,000/month for management; cloud cost passed through at provider price.

Three options: (1) move to a small monthly retainer for ongoing feature work, from KES 40,000/month; (2) keep us on-call for bug fixes at an hourly rate; (3) hand the codebase to your internal team — we run a half-day walkthrough free of charge.

Yes. We invoice in either currency at your preference. USD invoices are billed at the morning's CBK rate plus 0.5% to cover Wise conversion. No surprise FX margin.

Only after the paid discovery week is done. A fixed price on an unscoped brief is not a commercial promise — it is a bet that we'll resent six weeks in. Discovery costs you KES 25,000 and protects both of us from that.

All prices exclude VAT. 50% upfront, balance net-14 on completion of each sprint or phase. Infrastructure (Hetzner, AWS, Cloudflare, model providers) passed through at cost. No retainer locks you in beyond the current month — we earn the renewal.
